The Challenge

The Kingston Ale House is a beloved staple in the heart of Kingston, WA — known for its warm atmosphere, amazing food, and welcoming community feel. While the restaurant had a strong local presence, it lacked a clear online identity. They needed a website that:

  • Clearly displayed their rotating food and drink menu

  • Was easy for staff to update regularly

  • Promoted their events and seasonal offerings

  • Matched the personality of their well-loved brand

Without a functional site or defined brand kit, their online presence didn’t reflect the quality and consistency of the in-person experience.

The Solution

To bring The Kingston Ale House’s digital presence up to par with their real-world charm, I created a brand-forward, user-friendly website and visual toolkit to support them long-term.

Brand Development

  • Built a custom brand kit that included fonts, colors, and graphic elements inspired by the aesthetic of the Ale House.

  • Focused on coastal colors, inviting textures, and subtle nods to Pacific Northwest design.

Website Design & Functionality

  • Designed a custom Squarespace website that’s easy to navigate and manage.

  • Integrated a rotating food and drink menu that the team can update with ease.

  • Created dedicated pages to highlight:

    • Weekly and seasonal events (trivia nights, holiday specials, etc.)

    • Special offerings like happy hours, tap takeovers, and brunch features

  • Ensured the site was fully mobile-optimized for guests browsing on the go.

Staff-Friendly Backend

  • Built the site with simplicity in mind, giving the team the tools and guidance to make future updates without needing ongoing web support.

The Results

The Kingston Ale House now has a digital home that reflects the experience regulars know and love. With a clean, cohesive look and a website built to grow with them, they’re able to reach more potential guests, promote their events, and keep the community informed — all while staying true to their roots.

This case study demonstrates how a thoughtfully designed website and brand presence can support a small business in both connection and conversion — without overwhelming their team or losing their local charm.
